About Us
Aloha, we are 808 Caravan.
Musicians
Joe Aloisio - Lead Vocals, Percussion
Talofa I’m Joe Togia’i Aloisio, I grew up in the village of Leloaloa attending Marist Brother’s school in Atu’u American Samoa. I moved to Honolulu, Hawaii when I was a teenager and made Hawaii my home since. I am a proud father of five daughters, and I am number nine out of ten siblings. I’m self employed with JAConstruction so if you need any help around the house let me know. 😉 I enjoy watching sports and believe it or not, I was once the Honolulu heavy weight arm wrestling champion. I won the Hawaii public links golf open in February 2004. We also won numerous volleyball and basketball tournaments when I was a youngster. My first love for music growing up listening to dad playing his guitar singing and making horn sounds from the side of his mouth; maybe that’s the reason singing came natural for me. Some years ago, I sang with a few groups including The Golden Oldies Singers before we started 808 Caravan ten years ago. Our band schedule posts where and when we are playing... come check us out. Mahalo! 🤙
Bill Reardon - Lead Vocals, Ukulele
I’m Bill, the youngest member of 808 Caravan. The hair that I have left is mostly gray and I’ve had a colonoscopy, yet I’m the baby of the group. I identify as a musician and a comedian, but the reality is that I’m a welder. I run a company called Heavy Metal, Inc. “Please consider Heavy Metal for all your Expensive metal fabrication needs!” I’m a 46 year old single man. Never married, no kids, not gay, just selfish. I definitely hoard motorcycles, but it’s still up for debate as to whether or not I have a drinking problem. I have a wonderful family back in New York that I completely abandoned because I prefer the weather here in Hawaii. Luckily, I’ve found some of the best friends I’ve had in my life right here in this band. We have such a great time together. So come check us out and join the fun!
Bob Hassett - Bass Guitar, Backup Vocals
I’m Bob, the oldest, smartest, funniest, and best-looking 😂 member of 808 Caravan. I was born in California and moved to Makaha, Hawaii, to pursue my professional surfing career. The only problem was I’m not that good! I love playing in this band. I enjoy the friendships that we all share and have become a happy FAMILY! Lastly, I’m enjoying retired life with my beautiful wife Angie traveling, going on cruises, and watching funny movies.
Ernie Morikubo - Lead Guitar, Toastmaster
I’m Ernie, the shortest in this band, but not the “slimmest”. And, I’m the second oldest. So what, ... I’m having the time of my life playing in this band!
Charlie Sakamaki - Rhythm Guitar, Backup Vocals, Sound Guy, Webmaster
I’m Charlie, the nerdiest member of 808 Caravan. Growing up in O’ahu, I always loved writing computer programs. I went to college and studied electrical engineering and worked on the mainland for many years doing custom ASIC design. When I finally was able to move back home to raise my family in Hawai’i, I took a break from work since no companies in Hawaii needed ASIC design engineers. So we started playing music kanikapila style and we eventually became 808 Caravan! I started learning web application design and made this website for our band. It’s a full-stack Javascript web application using React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and several other open-source packages. It is hosted using Vercel. I hope you like it. Please feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions or comments about this website, or just want to talk story. For more info about me, you can visit my webpage at www.CharlieSakamaki.com
